(gentle music) Whether elected by the people or handpicked for the role, these leaders are the ultimate multitaskers, keeping your county's gears turning smooth.
For example, in Erie County, New York, they are in charge of the operation of all departments.
And when elected, they might have voting or veto power over legislation, similar to a governor or mayor.
If appointed, the position is usually hired for a specific term, but can be dismissed before the term ends.
County executives maintain the fiscal health of the county, ensuring financial stability and are there to guide us in an emergency.
