Here's five steps to help you become a media literacy expert.
Exercise skepticism, question, who is delivering the information, then crosscheck with multiple sources.
Understand the misinformation landscape.
It's widespread and it thrives on social media.
Platforms run on algorithms.
Engagement, outranks accuracy.
Don't give into the drama, they're just trying to get you to lose your cool.
Don't let 'em.
Investigate.
Verify information by checking its source context, and supporting evidence.
Are two sources just citing each other?
Keep digging.
The Socratic method, you all.
Approach the misinformed with curiosity and respect and ask questions.
All of this makes you a better informed citizen.
